Readers of my adventure travel posts have witnessed some of what I call my Life 2.0 transformation. When I started this travel blog in 2008, I was a VP of Marketing and PR jet-setting from Berlin one day to Mexico City the next and red-eye flights back to Florida. I was juggling a lot of balls: successful executive, wife, homeowner, and a healthy, gym rat. Then in the fall of 2009, on one of my travels New York, I took out the trash and went blank. I awoke five days later in the ICU. Others had to fill in the pieces of the puzzle as to what had happened. That normal fall day, as I turned the corner to throw the trash in the dumpster, a thousand pound tree limb struck me breaking my neck and leaving me unconscious.
I call that moment with the tree my ‘When All Balls Drop’ moment. That tree sparked a trifecta of loss. That fall, everything that I held dear vanished. My health was in peril. I witnessed my marriage disintegrate. I lost that VP position. I documented my freak accident and some of this journey on this blog with posts about the accident. However, last September, I released my debut book When All Balls Drop, which shares this story of my nine-month recovery and life change. When All Balls Drop shows you how it is possible to not only survive life’s obstacles, but also thrive and spark your own life change.
