There’s nothing like the open road, nowhere to go, and letting an adventure unfold. That’s why I asked my peer wanderluster, Cam Davidson, to share with you his passion for road tripping.
Enjoy Cam’s post & get ready for your own road trip!
While there is obviously something exciting involved in jetting off to a foreign land, in many ways, you still can’t beat the sense of adventure and excitement that you get from a good, old-fashioned road trip.
All you need is a couple of travelling companions, a map, your suitcase, and a decent vehicle. It is also worth taking the time to discover more about ways you can increase your interior room with a roof rack. So, if you are still not sure about heading out on a road trip, here are just a few of the reasons why now is the time to change your mind.
Ultimate Flexibility
When you are travelling by car, there is a huge amount more flexibility involved than other modes of transport. You don’t have to deal with the annoyances of timetables, schedules, and cancellations. And you aren’t limited by the stopping points which have already been predetermined. You can even head out without a clearly defined plan and have an incredible time.
Increase Your Spontaneity
If you feel like you don’t have enough spontaneity in your life, you can certainly change this by heading out on a road trip. Perhaps you see a sign in the distance which you simply have to check out. Maybe your fellow travellers inform you about a place that you simply must see. Ultimately, you should head out on the trip with a willingness to embrace the sense of adventure belongs on a road trip.
Bond with Your Fellow Road Trippers
In our fast-paced modern world, it can be difficult to spend as much time with the people closest to you that you would like to. However, when you are on a road trip, you will spend hours on end in close proximity with them. This provides you an opportunity for bonding that you wouldn’t normally get, and you should make sure that you take advantage of this. And while there are times when you will want to sit in silence, there is still a sense of bonding to be gained from this as well.
Discover the Country Better
You are not going to get a detailed impression of a country if you simply fly over the top of it. A road trip gives you the opportunity to stop as many times as you would like along the way. You may decide to take a pit stop in a town simply because you like the name of it. And while you are there, you could end up seeing something totally unexpected.
Have Fun
The whole point of a road trip is that it is supposed to be fun, and there are plenty of ways to make sure that you maximise your enjoyment. Make sure that you have a great playlist, as well as some audiobooks or podcasts to keep you entertained. And when all else fails, a classic road trip game like ‘I Spy’ or the ‘License Plate Game’ never fail to amuse!
