I’m all about trying new things, foods, places, and the like, but sometimes my family, friends, or others fight me on it. However, it always help when I have more people in my court. That’s why I have enlisted the expertise of my friend and peer adventurer, Carole Kain from the U.K., to share with you why you should consider a more adventurous vacation this summer!
Thanks Carol! The floor is yours!
When it comes to our vacations, I tend to think many people are more drawn towards the type of holiday where you can relax and do not much else. Sitting on a beach. Listening to the waves crashing, walking the sandy beaches and swimming in the hotel pool. For some that sounds like absolute bliss, and I don’t blame you. But, I also think sometimes it is nice to step out of your comfort zone and try something a little different. So I thought I would share with you some of the different types of vacations you could consider this summer.
Climbing a mountain
Are you the type of person who likes adventure? Then perhaps you want to combine your vacation with your love for that. Maybe you are at the best fitness levels of your life and want to challenge your body as well as your mind, then why not climb a mountain. It may sound a little crazy but websites like https://borneocalling.com/mount-kinabalu-climbing-packages/ showcase one of the best options to do this in Borneo, and it really could enable you to challenge every aspect of your body, while taking in some of the best experiences on offer.
Taking a road trip
Maybe taking a road trip sounds like a different type of vacation to enjoy this summer, and it really could be a good option. It gives you the chance to take in some different places in the one vacation break. Common ones tend to be places like the USA or Europe. Where you really get the chance to take on the open road and see some fabulous destinations. It also enables you to see some places that perhaps you wouldn’t ordinarily get to when taking a normal vacation where you fly to one specific place. Websites like https://lifehacker.com/how-to-plan-the-perfect-road-trip-1581847075 have some great tips on how you can plan yours.
Island or city hopping
Similar to a road trip, seeing more than one place really appeals to some people, so you could consider island or city hopping so you get to do this. Cruising is a great way to do this as the itinerary is already planned for you, but you could also organise it yourself by flying or jumping on a boat between destinations. It could be a great experience.
Ticking off a destination or experience from your bucket list
Finally, many of us have some form of bucket list wouldn’t you agree? That mental or even physical list where those places you want to see and experience are there waiting. But not all of us use it as inspiration for our vacation. Step out of your comfort zone and take the plunge to have that holiday of a lifetime. It might be going to Australia, New Zealand or even walking the Great Wall of China. Whatever it is, you will be thankful for the experience.
So there you have it, some of the best alternatives to that beach holiday. It can really give you some food for thought and allow you to experience something really different. Life is for living, after all.
