Are you culprit to traveling to the end of the earth to see the world’s largest lake, waterfall, or mountain while leaving things close to home unvisited? I was. I grew up in the Midwest. I spent many years in New England. In fact, I lived most of 2009 in the Hudson River Valley of New York. I had lived much closer to either side, Canadian or American, of Niagara Falls than I had in relation to Patagonia or Kauai. However, I eagerly purchased tickets to those remote destinations, leaving Niagara Falls unseen. That was until last summer on an adventure travel filled journey to Ontario, Canada. Let me whet your palate for your own discovery of Niagara Falls.
Although the view from the Skylon Tower gave me the larger picture of the area, I enjoyed getting sprayed both at the Park, on the Maid in the Mist, and most of all on the wild, wet, and fun jet boat tour. Whether you choose to do all or some of the above, I would highly suggest bringing your own raincoat. The tours will give you ponchos, but they certainly don’t suffice. Go prepared! You will enjoy yourself that much more. If you choose not to do either of the boat tours, I think I have given you plenty of wine inspiration with a view. Cheers to the beauty of Ontario and Niagara Falls!
