When one travels to Kauai, you expect some of the best sun and surf the Pacific can offer. Whether your chosen Kauai adventure be basking on the bow of a catamaran sailing the Napali Coast or paddling out to catch waves with professional surfers in Hanalei, you’ll be ready for happy hour or pau hana with a touch of locally crafted beers from Kauai Beer Co.

Having the opportunity to live only blocks from Lihue location, I have witnessed first-hand and tasted its progress since its opening in 2013. With a wide selection of seven drafts and one rotating nitro tap, Kauai Beer Co has brought the biergarten to the Garden Island. Open Wednesday through Saturday, you can choose to enjoy its suds along with its locally sourced menu for lunch or dinner. Each item is paired with one of the taps such as the catchy Don’t Be a Jerk Chicken Sandwich with the Amber Ale and the Black Limousine Braised Oxtail Stew with nothing but, the Black Limousine. However, save room from dessert. With an in-house made root beer gelato or an ever-changing beer gelato, there is something uniquely sweet for you.

One of the most popular evenings of the week for the Kauai Beer Co, is Food Truck Thursday where two local food trucks surprise the patrons with their specialties ranging from Greek, Tex-Mex, Burgers, and traditionally Hawaiian plate lunch. Each week the two trucks rotate so no Thursday night menu is the same. Get to Food Truck Thursday early as local grinds will sell out and seating is first come first serve.

For those that live on Kauai or are just visiting, you can purchase a growler for enjoying at home or your hotel. The growlers are stainless steel with the Kauai Beer Co’s famous purple chicken logo. Although you can’t bring the beer back with you, a growler is a great souvenir for you or your beer enthusiast back home. If you don’t know which beer to fill it with, I would suggest trying them all with a sampler of 2 ounces of each. After countless visits as well as even hosting a book signing last year for When All Balls Drop, my favorite taps are Lihue Lager, Austrian Chicken, and Black Limousine.

If you are planning your first trip to Kauai or are a repeat visitor, do drop in the Kauai Beer Co. No Kauai adventure would be complete without the sun, surf, and suds. After all Kauai makes you feel like you are living a beer commercial.
